Field testing and psychometric properties of Thai version of the Boston carpal tunnel questionnaire

Introduction The Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) is a widely recommended patient-reported outcome measure to evaluate symptoms and functions in carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) patients. We aimed the translation cross-cultural adaptation of Thai version BCTQ (Thai BCTQ) investigate psychometric properties including internal consistency, test-retest reliability, construct validity responsiveness. Methods was field tested with 15 healthy volunteers CTS patients item-objective congruence each item. Following that, one hundred twenty-four were included for evaluation this study. Internal consistency assessed using Cronbach’s alpha. Test-retest reliability examined intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). To validity, Spearman’s rank symptom severity scale -S), functional status -F) subscales MHQ analyzed. Responsiveness determined standardized response mean (SRM). Results Minor modification made better explain term “tingling”. BCTQ-S, BCTQ-F demonstrated adequate alpha values (0.91-0.94) good (ICC=0.89-0.98).
